I have read the reviews, but can not tell if the communications between the user and the dog are any better.
Has the line of sight thing improved?
9 miles out on the ocean will not help me;-)=
How fast are the updates. I have a big fast running dog and faster updates would be better than saving batteries with slower updates.
Thanks

You can change the update rate. I want to say you can pick between 5s and 2m, but don't quote me. Any simplex radio is going to have the "line of sight" thing. I'd imagine with the long range antenna you would get decent range, having never had the 220 I cant compare it for you.

Re: More questions Garmin 320
We took our dogs to N. wisconsin this fall. I just got the 320 and a dc40 collar and my buddies have 220's. My young shorthair gets going way too big to be useful as a grouse dog but did show us that the two garmin units are comparable in tracking in heavy cover as they all showed him at 800 yard out and more. Set at 5s you get about as close as you can get to seeing were their at via map or compass. Believe me when I say they cover huge amounts of terrain in 5 seconds.
