landowner gifts?

Post by iowajonnyboy » Mon Dec 05, 2011 11:21 am

My first season here in ND has been awesome and I've had a few landowners let me hunt several times. In fact, I've only been turned down a couple of times when I've been able to locate the right person to ask.

What do you get the people who let your hunt their posted land? I've done bottles of booze and gift cards (gas station/dept store) in the past and they have been well-received.

One of the landowners is a (presumed) single older gal in her late 50s/early 60s. Her brother works the farm and she lives in the farmstead - she has let me hunt her land on more than one occasion. Any ideas?

I got these for a co-worker that I drew for the Christmas party last year and she always comments to me how much she likes them. I'd go with a size 8 (most popular) and include a gift receipt incase she needs a different size. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Footwear ... t104581080

I usually give something from my home state. That being Wisconsin, different cheeses, venison snack sticks, sausage, etc are usually received EXTREMELY well.

I usually give them a gift certificate or a gift item from the pheasants forever site. www.pheasantsforever.org marketplace. The landowners I've given the PF book (big book with pheasant pictures, etc.) have really commented and enjoyed the book. I just gave a ham to a local landowner that let us deer hunt on his place.

For a lady.... maybe a gift certificate to Coldwater Creek? They have neat stuff. Or local jams/honeys etc. from your area.

I usually give a gift card to their fav resturant, I ask the wife what he likes in that area. I usually get the one she likes :) so he can earn points on my buck :)

Texas ranchers love that Clown Oil, but you can't go wrong with food and such.
