FDSB Ch Rotolactor

Post by bigdaddy » Fri Dec 09, 2011 8:13 am

I thought I would share this photo. Sorry about the poor scan quality, but I can't take it out of the frame. The back is inscribed as follows:

"Ch Rotolactor - Mar 31, 1943 - Homerun Harrigan - Flying Girl
33 wins 2 Championships - runner-up in 2 other championships"

The inscription was made by my wife's grandmother, Matilda "Tillie" Nitchman.

Rotolactor's progeny include HOF Ch Smart.

So, your wife's grandfather was Doc Nitchman? Did you ever get to meet him?

Just briefly, and he had already had a stroke and wasn't in the best health. We have a couple of trophies and some other memorabilia of him (like this photo) around the house. We also visit his old place in AL at least once a year. I can't wait to bring my new EP there in February!

Best quote I ever read at a field trial was from him.

He was watching a dog run off and the handler was screaming "whoa" at it over and over again. He said to the guy with him, "I wonder what he say's when he wants the dog to stop". Da*n I love that! :D
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

Does anyone know the story about Doc Nitchman and Robert Wehle. Wasn't there a lawsuit over the ownership of Elhew Strike? Maybe I have it all wrong, I don't know.

I read that interview in the Field too. I love that as much as you do DonF.

I believe Ch Rotolactor would have been a maternal great-grand sire of HOF Ch Smart.

I believe that to be the case. Smart was out of Potato Patch Sue, after whom I named my first EP, Briar Patch Sue.

The question makes me think to ask my father-in-law if he has any of Doc's old breeding records.
