How much do you pay for birds and where do you live?

Post by Stoneface » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:27 pm

I live right on the Oklahoma/Missouri border, right between Kansas and Arkansas. I use quail - Bobwhites and Tennessee Reds - and pay $4 for flight conditioned birds.

What about you guys?

$3.50 or $4 per bird if you find the right person. Can be much higher though.

It used to be $3.85-4.00 for 13-15 week old fliers for quail, but we have had weather knock down acres and acres of suppliers netting and the supply has been really shorted this year and last, we also train with pigeons and chukkar and pheasant but ALL of them are in fairly short supply....if anybody has a good supplier that would be willing to ship or deliver to anywhere near the Colorado line, please let me know...I'd appreciate it.

Bobwhites - $4.50
Chukar $8-9
Pigeons $3
Pheasant juveniles $4.00
Adult pheasant $9-15

I saw valley quail on Craigslist for $25 each....

So many places to get birds in southern California.

3,50 from 1 supplier, and 3.75 from another in KY. I am using the best birds I have ever had. Used to pay more for lesser birds.

Five bucks for a quail if I would buy them. Getting a 100 day olds this spring to raise for next fall. Other than that I just use pigeons. Chukar I think are arouind $12 and pheasant's over $15. Not buying many of them.

I give between 4-7.00 apiece for quail, usually closer to $6-$7. In the summer I can buy pigeons from a guy for $2.

My brother in law is talking about raising some quail and putting them in a flight pen hopefully I can push him along and that will help me out.

I'm in souther IN on the I'll border..

Ontario Canada .... 2-$5 a bird (Pigeons) at auction. If none have sold you often are given them for free. Occasionally we have fancy pigeons, whose tumbling habit is a good distraction for the dog, but usually wild pigeons who fly great. We can't buy/use quail here . Chukar are about $5. each - can't be kept , must be used immediately.

4 bucks a quail, but once they're released you have to follow the game laws. (watch your 4 dollars fly away)

I surely hope your talking about pheasants and not quail! $9 a pheasant is a pretty good rate, if its quail we are talking about then your getting raped! Come see me this spring if thats the case. If they are pheasants your probably not using them for training, I hope.
