If you have to ask......

Jim
A limit on the strap is nice, but the kill has nothing to do with tradition.

You know I think culling can be accomplished without actually killing any pups. I say that even though I have done it to a couple unplanned litter's of mixed breed's. All that needs be done is to make sure the ones labled as culls be taken out of the gene pool. That's is certainly not hard to do. If a breeder is selling his pup's for $500 and getting it, it's a whole lot cheaper for the buyer to spend the cost of altering and a few bucks for the breeder. For the breeder it certainly makes his loss smaller. To cull unexpected litter's of mixed breeds I can understand if, it's done as they are born. And I admit I've had mix breed dogs in my life I have loved. To do the same to a planned litter of pure bred pup's takes on a different outlook for me. I certainly don't know how the type culling we have been talking about would benifit the different breeds. Some dogs really do start later and then not being around for the breeder to look back on, would maybe hide what he is really breeding. I don't know if anyone is familuar with Guard Rail. He was wasting away in a kennel unwanted till someone came along and saw something everyone else was missing. The rest is history!
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

Ok sorry posted an apology earlier stating that I misunderstood what you guys meant by culling. I'm sorry to anyone that I offended. I'd much rather spay or neuter for culling. Hopefully this post will get left alone since my last apology isn't posted.

Yeah, when I started my thread I thought everyone would take "culling" as just excluding dogs as prospective breeders. I should have made that perfectly clear when I made the original post, but someone asked me in the first couple of replies and I made it clear so didn't think there would be a problem. I guess when you've got a big mouth and small foot you don't have to try very hard to... well, you know.
