Ladies Boots
Ladies Boots
I'm looking to buy a pair of boots for my lady. They will mainly be used for ice fishing and winter hikes with the dog. Any suggestions?
Re: Ladies Boots
I have insulated Danner boots for winter hiking/hunting but I've been eyeing these too, perhaps they might fit your bill.

Love my Boggs in the winter! My feet stay warm and dry. Mud and slush don;t bother them, they rinse off with the hose. Pretty good traction as well. I'm into my second year with this pair and they still look and feel good, I figure I should get at least a couple more winters out of mine.

Re: Ladies Boots
They really don't have enough heel to be safe riding. I wear insulated ariats for riding.

Re: Ladies Boots
I love my Ariat Glacier front zip boots. Great for riding and walking. I use them for hunting boots in the winter. Waterproof and warm. I like my Mucks but find them too heavy for walking long distances.

Re: Ladies Boots
I've been looking for a compromise between absolutely no tread...and enough to keep me from falling on my butt when I get off my horse in wet grass/mud/clay. I have Ariat Terrain H20's now and they really don't fit the bill. They're insullated, waterproof, but nearly totally smooth-soled.

The Glacier treads actually look a bit deeper. You don't find them slippery at all?

I haven't had any issues and I have worn them in snow. But I don't have as much snow exposure as you do.

Re: Ladies Boots
I also use insulated danners. Specifically, the Pronghorn with 400 of thinsulate. I've used these for winter snowshoeing trips in Alaska with no trouble at all.
