I recently got a hound/lab mix puppy, and iam now wondering if she will be a good hunting dog. I mainly hunt geese, and duck, but rabbit when I get a chance. Anyone ever heard of this breed doing alright for any of this?

One really has no idea what a mixed breed will be able to do.
Might be 90 % lab and be great in water retrieves but...............
Might be 90% beagle and be great on rabbits but no ducks.
May I ask why you decided to get a mixed breed?

I would take a setter and english pointer cross, maybe a chesapeake to labrador cross. But when you go that far apart hound to lab don't expect much more than a pet. Hopfully its an oops litter and someone didn't want to do this cross. If so give them a couple hundred years to perfect it before buying one.

You won't know until you try. Heck, could turnout to make a good hunting dog, you never know. Nothing wrong with a mutt, just don't know what your getting and I think you have to set expectations.

We have a mutt (GSP/Springer) and she's a heck of a little bird dog, wouldn't trade her for the world.

Give the dog a chance, put in a little time and you just never know.
