What do you do for a living?

Post by djswizz » Wed May 31, 2006 9:15 am

Just wanted to see what everyone does for a living...

I'm a regional systems specialist for a large fortune 500 company. I also do some real estate investing. And I go to school part time to finish my 2nd degree... Whew!!

I am a Livestock Nutritionist by training and currently am the Director of Technical Services for a microbial manufacturer. We also have a farm where we raise high quality alfalfa and alfalfa-grass hay for the horse market.

Do For a Living

Post by Hotpepper » Wed May 31, 2006 11:43 am

From age 21 to age 53, worked as a police officer in Indiana. Part time security director for a large building since retirement. Pension checks come on the 15th and 31st, regularly.

I guess at this point I live on my pension and what my wife of 42 years can make as a cedit manager for a very large drug company. She is going to retire next year 07 and we are going to travel.

Running field trial dogs for about 20 years as an amateur. That is what I love.

Just graduated from law school on the 13 of May. Started bar review today, so I'll be looking for procrastination from my assigned reading here on the boards. I've got a job as an attorney waiting for me in my home county in southern Illinois starting the week after the bar exam.

Everybody can be an engineer if you phrase it correctly! One of my favorites is domestic engineer = housewife/husband.

In my opinion, though, the only real engineer is the kind that drives a train engine, the locomotive engineer. I'm biased, though, because my dad is a locomotive engineer.

Ditto day after day. Yes, there is a husband in there somewhere too!

I work at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and I monitor and operate/control the HVAC and other mechanical equipment around campus via building automation systems. Also the fire alarm systems and a few other campus wide systems are monitored and often controlled/operated by the office in which I work in.

Outside of here I mow yards, work on a few farms, in teh winter work at our huntign club and I'm the woodcutter for a BBQ team consisting of a fe friends of mine (ok, they tellme what kind of wood they want to cook with and how old and the quantity and I find it, cut it, provide it and I just drink beer and watch while they cook!).

Ayres, where are you coming to work in Southern Illinois? You do know that anythgin above I-64 isn't Southern Illinois anymore don't you?

To the other guy who went to school down here, why did you find it so boring?
