I owned & trained Labs long before I started raising pointers... Upland hunting was only something we did on "Bluebird" days when it was too nice to H2Ofowl hunt.
Since my brother went into the military a few years back and had to go to Iraq, and now Afghanistan, we don't do it much anymore. However, Sooner has adapeted to life afield quite nicely. Anyone who says you can't hunt a lab with pointers efficently is full to the brim with BS.

Here is "Sooner" at work.

The only time our dogs see H20fowl is when were training or at a HT  Decided to keep this little gal out of my last litter. She is a smart little chit, has a lot of prey drive and is going to be a nice compact dog...just like her Aunt who has turned out to be one of the best upland dogs we have ever owned.

A limit on the strap is nice, but the kill has nothing to do with tradition.

Great looking dog Susie, and other retriever owners. I enjoyed upland hunting with my lab and britt at same time. This time around I got a retriever and a pointing dog.

Yep. Always have had them. Being without a good retriever would be like going without a car for me. I just couldn't do it. I'm a waterfowler first. But, that being said I do have a pretty nice, although old red dog. Looking for another pointer for those days I don't feel like trudging through the marsh.

I train them for a living. I started out with a GSP 17 year ago and then got into retrievers now I want a good pointing dog. Go figure. I love my labs but it is not the same hunting upland bird except pheasants. I have aquired quit a bit of groud with upland bird so now I think it is time to have atleast one good pointing dog.
