weight question

Post by Vaoutdoors42 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 7:13 am

My dog Jackson (GSP) is 6.8 months old and weighs 52 pounds.
Average weight for this breed is 55 to 70 lbs.

What do yall think he will weigh as an adult?

Thanks

Based on the info you've given I'd say 52 pounds or more.

Six point eight months? How many day's of a month is point eight days? :)
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

I think they are trying to say that we don't know. Sounds like he's where he should be now , so i wouldn't worry.

honestly I'm not sure you're going to get a much better answer than that without maybe fleshing out your question a bit more as to what your interst in your dogs finishing weight is. It can vary so much from 45 to 80 lbs, and I'm sure there are some statistical outliers in there somewhere.

Sure you have ancestoral suggestions of what weight ranges you will likely see the result of, but that's not a solid indication either. If just for fun, though...hows 55lbs for a guess?

Right on Gertie.

30 days = 1 month
.8 = X months
30x = .8
x = 24

Sorry . I've been a teacher for too long. Always show your work. :)

What about february? what if it was a leap year? the implications would be drastic :D im just kidding.

Lets make this fun and interesting...send us a good picture of the form and figure of your dog so we can put some educated guesses down. Kind of like the penny jar in school when we got to hold it and look at it before guessing the $$$

Based on the avatar pic I'm going to readjust my guess to 61.5 lbs.

To the original poster, there are a lot of variables to consider when trying to answer your question including genetics, sex (assuming male), altered/unaltered, age altered, diet, birth order, age weaned, exercise level... lots of stuff. Point being, I don't think anyone is going to be able to make a better guess than you. But just for fun, assuming it's a male and is not altered yet, 68 lbs. :P

Thanks guys and gals... It was all for fun... My brother in law also has a dog from the same litter and we both were just guessing what their adult weight would be....thought I would throw out the question on the forum

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Normally I'm not a smart alec. It was such a good pitch I had to hit it out of the park. 8) If he is really lean he may fill out & put more weight on but I'm guessing he won't get much over 60#.
