Above Ground Kennel Plans

Post by nick.reed00 » Mon Mar 05, 2012 12:29 pm

Greetings all, I was wondering if anyone has a set of above ground kennel plans they could email me. I am getting ready to take my first crack at this and would appreciate any help. Thanks for your time.

Nick

Go to "search" top right and type in "above ground kennels". FarmTek has flooring.
Pointed birds: If it's flyin', it's dyin'.

In 1969, the only woodstock I saw was on my M-14.

Try South West Agri Plastics. They make a panel that is 5'x2' that fits the kennel panels sizes better. You have to call them to order the 5 footer. Same manufacturer of the farm tek panels.

I am also looking for the plans to build the actual wood or metal kennel. I have an idea, but why reinvent the wheel. Thanks for all the help

Nick

I am building one myself. I am building out of 2 x 6 pressure treated lumber on 20" centers using the 5x2 plastic grates. Mine will be 16 feet long. It will be 18 inches above the ground so I can rake out underneath the floor.

Sorry I don't have plans to share with you.

For adult dogs this is cheaper then farmtek and the openings are a little bigger.

I don't have any scientific proof of this but a friend years ago who had several beagles in above ground kennels, swore that if they were at least 30 inches above ground, when the bitches were in heat and peed, no males came around because the scent of estrus would be gone by the time the pee hit the ground. Maybe an old wives tale but he swore by it. Anyone ever hear of this? :?:

How big are the openings on the Scott's flooring? I used some FarmTek in my puppy pen last fall and it worked well for the most part, but would certainly want larger openings for an adult dog.

The openings on the panels I bought from Southwestagri plastics are 1.1" x 1.1"
