Dog Box Size

Post by Deets » Thu Mar 08, 2012 11:13 pm

I am building my own two hole dog box. I have noticed that most boxes are approx 24" tall. My current palstic crate is 28" tall and my pointer can easily stand up inside it. I don't want to make the box as tall as my crate, because it limits my view out the back window. Do you guys think that 24" is tall enough? After I add plywood, the inside height will be approx 23". My dog will not be able to stand up, but I am thinking he doesent really need to. It might even be better if he didin't. Less chance of him getting hurt when I slam on the brakes. The overall outside demension I am considering is 24" tall, 48" wide & 36" deep. Any feed back before I get started would be helpful.

He will still be able to stand and turn around, just have to keep his head lower. I would go with 24" .

It should work fine....Like you said, he really doesn't need to be standing anyway and he will still have room to stretch or change positions if he needs to.

My box is 48 x 48 x 28 tall, no problem fitting any dog!
