Sanders said that Hope had been bitten in the left ankle and was recovering slowly. She was in "pretty severe pain," according to Sanders.

"She can't really move - it's taken over her entire left leg," Sanders said. "Her leg is huge."

Hope's leg was black, blue and purple and badly swollen, the girl's mom said.

Sanders said that the standard treatment is 14 units of anti-venom and doctors have already used 26 units on Hope.

Doctors felt that they wouldn't need to cut Hope's leg to drain the venom, Sanders said.

On the heels of the incident, Phoenix Fire officials warned people working or recreating outdoors to be extra careful given that as the weather continues to warm, snakes will be more prevalent.

That's one thing we don't have to worry about in Ontario- except for a small area. However, we are now starting to see cougars. Not sure where they came from. Hope I don't have to find out if my coyote spray works on a cougar. Why do i get the feeling that the animals are taking back the land. :?

LOL No.

I went to the store to get coyote spray. I asked for the strongest one they had ( Why fool around.) The clerk said " You can't use bear spray on coyotes. It would kill them.' 8)
