The New Kid

Post by Gertie » Sun Aug 05, 2012 10:43 pm

So despite my not-so-subtle hints that I would love another bird dog in the house my sweetie went and found this guy at the local shelter. I gotta say, I'm really warming up to him. He's a miniature Queensland heeler (23 lbs. and he can literally walk underneath Gertie) and he's quite a character. Him and Gert are like peas and carrots and I'm real glad we can offer him a nice home. Here's a picture. Btw, his name is Danzig

Nice! We also have a blue heeler to take care of our yard and birddogs. Very valuable asset and a great pet (for us anyway). The only problem we have is she nips at the horses heels when i least expect it.

Great looking dog! I've always wanted a heeler....maybe one day.

Heelers are smart and protective! I always had them when growing up. They are herding dogs, so they will try to do that job and it may drive Gertie crazy! But they are smart and loyal dogs. Mine learned how to open the fridge and bring a beer....great dog for college. They do have a lot of energy, so he'll likely be a great companion for Gertie.

I have a Red Queensland Healer named Reba. She is the best retrieving and flushing dog this side of the Mississippi and pure heck in a quail patch!

The correct name for a Queensland Healer is Australian Cattle Dog.

Love em...smart dogs...they need a job. Get them a flock of clipped wing ducks and they are "happy campers". :)

ACD's are AWESOME dogs. They absolutely need work. I'm sure your setter will help keep her exercised (and vice versa).

They are tough little buggers. I'd have one if we were set up for it.

Did someone dock his tail?
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.
