Dog Pads

Post by deke » Mon Mar 26, 2012 3:48 pm

My dog ripped up the pads of his feet yesterday running around my parents pool on rough concrete. Is their anything we should be doing while his feet are tender. I know he is in some amount of pain because he will only leave his bed to eat and pee. We put two pairs of socks on him yesterday and that seemed to help a little bit, and i was thinking about putting some liquid skin on him tonight to keep stuff out of his feet.

Make sure you wash the pads and rinse thoroughly before applying liquid skin. I just let mine rest for a week. Even though the pads may be covered with a product , they are still tender to the dog.

I use either bag balm or cut heal depending on severity.....

Depending on how bad they cut their pads, it can take quite a stretch to heal completely. At least it isn't bird season. :D

put some bag balm on them last night and then put socks on him. he actually seems to like the socks, but still wont leave his bed. any suggestions to toughin up his pads so that we can avoid this in the future.

He likes the socks eh? Next thing you know he'll want a pair of underwear. :)

Sharon, we already have to put the underwear on the top shelf of our closet.
