I want to see your Brittany!

Post by cptn » Tue Apr 10, 2012 8:45 am

I would love to see everyone's Brittany, French or American!

I am getting my American Brittany puppy soon (this May), and the more I learn about them, the more they are becoming one of my favorite dogs. I have basically memorized all the Brittanys on Google Search, haha.

I'd also love to know about your dog's personalities, quirks, strengths, and weaknesses! This would be a great place to show off.

Who doesn't love talking about your dog? :D Or...who doesn't love talking about their Brittany? ;]

Girlfriend just adopted this big baby for me for my birthday. Hunter is full of energy but a lover and a couch and bed hog!

Hah, mine is two weeks today! I haven't even seen mine either. I get to meet him at six weeks, and then pick him up at 8-9 weeks. I've seen the dam and sire, though. Beautiful!

What kind of Britt are you getting, French or American? Boy, girl? :]

Ugh, these dogs are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the photos, guys. I'm hoping my American looks as beautiful as Hunter when he gets older! :]

I love Ellie's markings! She is a cutie.

My dads EB Georgia from L'Etoile du Nord Kennels. The most natural hunting dog I've ever seen. She has a motor that doesn't quit, if you didn't stop her from hunting she'd go until she killed herself. I didn't know what people mean't when they said a dog was all bird dog, I know now. Even though she's a beast in the field she's a lover around the house and great with kids. She has a fun personality. Britts are my favorite, I just love'm!

I have 2 lovey GSP's but LOVE photographing all breeds. Below are some pics of a young Brittany at a Rock Tavern, NY NAVHDA training day last fall. He was a handsome and talented dog. He came from Ronnie Smith's kennel I believe and he is owned by Rick Affuso.

You couldn't possibly be talking about my Blaze dog (DC Britt Haven's Blaze of Glory). That is was a VERY fit, shaven down Brittany looks like.

THIS is the same dog, with coat & probably 5 pounds, finishing his DC a few years back.

Niki is adorable! Looks like she's coming along well!

Haha, Karen! I never doubted your Britt. : ] He does look a lot different, but that Brittany is still shining through. :]

On another forum, someone responded saying that they have come across some hard-headed Britts. I find that hard to believe, even though I know here are exceptions to every breed.

Do any of your Brittanys act out? Or are they as sweet as every knows them to be?

Blaze is a non-agressive dog, low man in the pecking order, but don't let that fool you.. he's extremely hard headed. He's also very aloof...

You get the impression from him, that if he didn't need food, he'd have no use for us sometimes. But given that he's also at times extremely friendly, he gives "hugs" at random times. He's very much a slave to "Schedule," and he'll make sure you know what the schedule is. This includes throwing himself in a crate at 10pm (because it's bed time), getting excited for dinner (starting at 3pm, until the usual 5pm). Pointing the "cookie cabinet" when it's time to go out for the last time of the day.

So - define hard-headed. Trainer says he's as tough as any Setter he's trained. Taking the highest setting on the training collar with no sound, and barely a flinch. But he doesn't really act out. He's actually one of the quietest keepers. The pups have inherited this easy-going nature, and "tough" personality. Our other dogs are "soft" by comparison.

Jenny (the one seemingly favored in Karen's list) is probably the most difficult around the house... She's very PUPPY. Nothing horrible, nothing biting, or anything... just puppy... Into the trash, won't crate break, if something wrong is being done it's her. However with that, she's still a very sweet, loving pup, that really rolls with the punches. She trains well, and just likes to have fun. She'll be a helluva dog someday, right now she's just puppy.

I've had Siberian Huskies, and frankly, there are no harder headed dogs, Britts are a dream compared to that.
