Getting a new puppy!

Post by trasmuson » Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:14 pm

Are any of you like me when you are getting a new puppy? I will be getting my first gun dog come this June. The pups were born last week, and I am worse than a child on Christmas Eve. I cannot wait for it! Are any of you guys like this? And what do you do to pass the time until it comes day to pick them up? haha I just cant wait!

I'd enjoy getting 8 hours of sleep because I know when pup arrives I will be up in the middle of the night taking pup out for a pee.

Oh heck no! I just sit back and read the paper, watch a little TV, have a BBQ and take a bottle of prozac!

It ain't easy... I spent my time reading the Draht puppy manual, the NAVDHA green book, and How to help gun dogs train themselves. I also plenty of time cruising the forums and browsing gun dog supply.

We were nuts waiting for our V puppy to hit 8 weeks. We went to the breeders house every weekend from week 4 on.

Congratulations! Post lots of pictures!

I'm in the same boat as you! I get my new American Brittany pup May 20th, and all I do in my spare time is stare at his puppy pictures and look up training techniques and Youtube videos! I'm a mess. :]

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one, this is very comforting... Haha like I said I am getting my GSP in June. What things should I be reading up on and studying? I've been studying up on YouTube videos and reading as much on these forums as possible, but what manuals and videos would you guys recommend for a newbie? Thanks everyone!
