Smarty Smith

Post by Retiredbirddogman » Sat Apr 28, 2012 11:07 am

Looking at some nice Smarty Smith dogs and want to learn more about Smarty Smith. I was out of dogs for about 10 years and Smarty Smith may have run during this time frame. It will be fun seeing what you have to say about "Smarty Smith".
Thanks

I have zero first hand knowledge of Smarty Smith, but if he made Harold Ray's team he is a good one.

Smarty Smith was a derby wonder that never won anything but derby stakes if I remember right, I think Barbaro was a better performing Smith dog of the era.

I still have five Smarty dogs from a litter of nine. They will be two years old next month, and all of them (including the four that were sold) are very nice dogs. I intend to keep a male and a female, but it has been difficult to make the final cut.

The only hole I have seen in my litter is that they have been very slow to mature , even for setters.

Message me if you would like to know more about them.
