Western Field Trialing
Western Field Trialing
Went to a trial last weekend - country was beautiful...but we lost, and I mean lost, most of the dogs...wierd...anyway snapped some shots:

Great pictures Doc
My depth perception is way off...is the bear backing the wolf or the wolf backing the bear?
Running trials in post hibernation is notorius for missing dogs

That liver shorthair has no style. Look at the tail and all!
Seriously, is that a grizzly bear? Were you on a getaway horse when you were shooting those pics? Beautiful country and beautiful pics as usual!

Great photo's! Where was that? I'm thinking Idaho or Mont somewhere.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!
Re: Western Field Trialing
Is that the closest you would get to the bear....chicken

WOW!!!! I might have a few suggestions as to why you lost those dogs. Whoever owned that chunky shorthair in all the pics might know what happened to a few also.

Yellowstone NP - you just can't beat the show in May when the bison calves are being dropped, the bears are wakin' up and the wolves are prowlin' around. Phenomenal. Definitely not a place you'd want to turn your dog loose!!Where was that?
Are you crazy man?? I saw several suspicious furry, toothy dudes in the area that looked like they might be responsible if it was actually a killing and not a shed and they appeared willing to do it again!! Plus, it's a Nat'l Park, I think they arrest you if you even think about going over and picking them up!! Actually a ranger pointed them out for me and told me they make for a nice photo so I set up on 'em and gave it a go! Probably 500yds across a lake - used a 300mm f/2.8 lens with 1.4x teleconverter, gave me all she had. Just a wee bit far for a real crisp shot in my hands. The wolf in this pic was laying down maybe 100yds from those antlers. Please tell me you found a way around the lake to pick up that Elk shed..

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
