Humping: I hate it.

I love male dogs. I love my girls, too, but I'm female and seem to have always bonded more with a male, canine companion.
However, there is one shortcoming: the humping. I'm aware that not all dogs do it, and I know some female dogs that get into I, too. I, also, know that it is a natural thing, but what can you do to tone it down a little or stop it?
I hear a bunch of remedies. Some snip the goods at 4 months before any sexual behavior. Some rattle coins in aa can whenever they mount. Some refrain from touching their chest until they are older as it simulates what it feels like when they are tying with a female. (Crazy, I know.) Some do nothing at all.
I'm not concerned with humping to show dominance; I just don't want my boy huming me! He's too young to be thinking about it now.
Am I silly for stressing about this?

You should be concerned, your dog is showing he is dominant over you. Most people relate dog humping as a sexual thing, it's not, it is typically a dominance issue. Anyone else can correct me if I'm wrong, I'm definately not an expert. Stop him before he gets the chance to start humping, don't let him jump on you at all.

Teach LEAVE IT. Works for my dogs, including when they go overboard playing rough. I have a two year old male and another six months younger that get way too rough. They ran off out of sight this morning and I heard a scream. I called them and yelled, "LEAVE IT." They both broke it up and hauled in.

Totally a dominance thing. Does he steal your side of the bed? Take up the whole couch?
Think how an assertive female dog would handle being humped if she didn't want to be humped. I doubt your young lad would try it too many times.
So there's your answer. Act like an assertive female dog in relation to the humping.

Complain until he just decides it isn't worth the trouble. That's what happens here.

That one must have not fallen into the sight unseen category.

Dominance for sure and be sure to give a negative body language !
Look at nature what does a female do when a male wants to mount her when she is not in season ! Look and learn.
This has gone all the way south to S Africa ! Ha !

You could do what one of my customers with a
spayed female minature Dachshund did. The dog simply needed to dominate something, so the lady gave up and got one of those PillowPets. I'll leave it at that.

If it lasts more than four hours, consult his veterinarian immediately.

I have a male GSP and for awhile it was just me and him in the house. I noticed he would hump his pet pillow more during the week when I worked than week ends when I was off and he got a good run in the field. Take a day and run the snot out of him. Then see if feels like humping. Could have alot of pent up energy and its driving him crazy.

Neutering at 4 months old definitely does NOT stop humping. It does cause dogs to grow bigger, not mature, maintain that piercing bark, their chests not to drop, their tendons to be less elastic, etc., etc., etc.
Don't neuter young to prevent humping.

The next time he mounts you and starts humping.....smack him in the head as hard as you can. And repeat every single time he does it. That will work.

That's usually how I get my headaches. I was wondering where she got that from. I wish you guys would stop giving advice like this!

Tell him, "thanks for the compliment - but you're just not my type". Then say no while shaking him firmly. Put him in his place & drive off in your Subaru Outback.

I have two females who are both in season right now... they take turns humping each other. It gets embarrassing as heck when company is here!

Some females don't like that much facial hair. Get a gsp and your females will stop.
