I’ve had a lot of dogs in the past but this is the first one to cry this bad. We picked up a gsp pup on Tuesday night, Tuesday he cried for 20 minutes and then cried again when he needed to go out. Well Wednesday night rolled around and he cried all night long, Last night he cried again for most of the night, he stopped for maybe 2 hours. So does anyone know any way I can make him more comfortably and stop the crying? We put a beach towel in there for him the first two nights and then last night he had a beach towel and a pillow and it still did help. Thanks in advance.

He isn't uncomfortable, he is lonely. Regardless of how bad it is you need to ignore it, otherwise you can and will make it worse if you go let him out when he cries. He will associate incessant crying with getting out of the crate.

True...if he cries and you let him out of the crate, he has you trained:-)

I always put puppy's crate next to the bed at night. If this is not allowed, then sleep out in the living room next to the crate.

Puppy needs to go potty every couple of hours. Fun stuff! Sooner than later puppy will be grown and you will be wishing he was still a puppy.

I put m y pup in hs crate in the truck that is n the garage the first 3-4 nights! It was great!

ALso heard of folks putting the crate by their beds and they rattle it a bit and tell the dog to hush.

Yep I have been ignoring it. just was hoping to make him more comfortable. O well guess he's just gonna be lonely.

Dogs are a pack animal. You are the one thing that pup wants 99 percent of the time. " In the house" bonding at night is important putting the crate next to the bed will help. Some forks sleep with there dog in the bed. If this is not somethig you want to do then at least put the pup where they can see you.

I actually decided to bring him into bed with me tonight, hes out like a light next to me right now. now hopfully he cries when he has to go to bathroom and doesn't just do it

Ha ha. Exactly right, Charlie. You think that organization "Dumb Animals League" is correctly named.

They do keep us trained. I'm just glad my animals let me come in the house every now and then.

haha ya I may have gave in a bit fast. I'm gonna let him sleep in bed cause he's keeping the whole house up and we all have work/school in the mornings. he is just gonna get put in the crate when I leave the house. it will go slower but it will get done.

I know lol I honestly though have never had a dog that hated being in the crate this much.

Broke Kona, during the day. When I was out she went in the crate in the back room. Kids at school and mom working nights slept during the day. She had no one to upset or let her out. She figured it out in 3 days. Stay strong.

Remember to make the crate a fun place. You've already let him win on the "dog in the bed" deal - so no further advice needed for that issue. What I would do though, is make sure to absolutely crate him sometimes when you're in the house with him. So he doesn't think crate=lonely, nobody home. Give him awesome chewy treats only in the crate and you can feed him in the crate as well. Make it a fun place to be.

yep we actually started feeding him in the cage this morning. thanks for the idea of the special treats for just in the cage.I intend to get him completely crate trained, but I need to be able to sleep so I can work lol.

I always ook mine as far from the bedroom as possible for the first few nites. Sometimes that was the kennel, or basement, or garage, but the further the less noice and everyone of them learned to love their crate I think. They would go get in them in the basement many times whan we were upstairs.

i would never put pup in my bedroom.when you show TOO MUCH attention a pup will grow up to be a DEPENDED DOG. so, thats what you will get.

you are right. now if i can just get you to like a CHEVY

I like them but have to admit the Toyota is a better truck but so far I haven't felt like spending the extra cash for one. By the way I traded my Cheve truck for a Dodge in 2000 and still have a Dodge.
