Birddog on new History Channel show.
I watched the Hatchfields and McCoys mini series over the last three days on the History Channel and they advertised a new series about a man who lives off the land in the mountains. In the previews it showed clips of him hunting over a Shorthair. It comes on tonight at 9 pm, central time. Thought you guys may like to see the premier. I hope it shows a lot about the dog. If this is the next deadliest catch I wonder if demand for Shorthair pups is going to boom.

That's what my kid said when they replaced Chris Brackett on Arrow Affliction.

I missed it . Did they show the shorthair at all ? do you think he will be on future episodes ? I think it would be kind of cool if they used a shorthair in the show.

At times, not always...there is a difference twixt a birddog and a pet, regardless of breed.
This was one such case.
One would expect a mountain man to limb shoot a bird....being mountain men and all.
One can also dig too deep in the reality show poke.

The Hatfield–McCoy feud ran from 1863–91. When were shorthairs A) invented B) imported C ) purchased by backwoods West Virginia boys?

Yeah I think I watched it last night? Was the show called "mountain men?" I thought it was entertaining. I wish it would have shown more of the dog, but for the most part I enjoyed the show. I mean, come on, don't we all wish that was our life's?

They seemed to have trouble with the dog running off from them all the time and they were always scared of it getting eaten by a bear! For mountain men they sure did'nt know sic'em about hunting deer. There is a sceen I swore the friend of the guy hunting was doing a drum solo instead of rattling. It is worth watching just for the chuckle factor, as far as reality tv goes that is!

Not to mention they were just leaning up against some sapplings in a very lightly wooded area. They sat out there, practically in the open, dressed like they were headed to town, with a camera crew right there with them.

Lets hope it gets better. Maybe the dog will run off and end up with the guy in air plane. He seems a little cooler

Maybe they'll show the guy training the dog in future episodes, it showed the pigeon loft a few times.....I assume those were for dog training.
