Chests - What Size & Shape do you Prefer

I prefer a large, well formed chest. However, if I can't have everything I'll take slightly narrower between the shoulders, with the most important portion protruding well away from the spine in the area just below the shoulders & a narrow waist - over broad shouldered, shallow in front and a larger waist.

But to the original question, I prefer narrow and deep. Seems to me the dogs I have seen with the smoothest gait were built this way, not sure if it was the chest type that enabled a smooth stride or if it was coincidental.

The theory behind a deep chest would be the bigger the chest the more room for the vital organs to cool and lungs expand leading to better stamina. Our breed standard calls for the chest to extend to the elbow.
Now, I know one of my dogs does not extend that far and has good stamina. Wonder what it would be if the chest was bigger?

Side note, DD's are no fun. When I run, I am constantly turning around thinking that someone is tapping me on the shoulder!

For smooth strides we'd have to talk about the legs too. I prefer long, straight, slightly thinner with the rear forming a very strong, tight muscular hind end.

Yes, that is a fact. But I guess that would be the trade off?

I lways make sure the dogs are cooled off( after a workout) well before I feed them. I dont excersice them for a good while after they eat. I even watch the water intake when they are super hot(not sure if that really helps or just makes me feel good)

I prefer a big thick junk in the trunk rear end that pops when they walk. A table top rear end you can sit a dinner plate on.
