solid liver gsp

Post by deke » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:46 am

Looking for recommendations of where i can get my hands on a solid liver gsp pup. Looking for a good hunting pedigree, all the ones i can find on google seem to be show pedigree. Pup can have some roan but mostly solid liver. Need a good breeder who has pups like this. Any recommendations would be very helpful.

Charlie Rose had a recent litter out of a Solid Lvr female he bought from me a few yrs ago,she has produced winners from past litters.Probably all sold but you could check.John Prince of http://www.princesqualitygundogs.com might have something.Brenda Roe (Snips) & i'm sure you will get more references from other members.

Good Luck!!

Thats a tough one...but here in the northwest there are alot of gsp breeders. I would look for either a DK kennel or a heavy NAVDHA kennel as there bloodlines usually have more color....

You might want to try to contact Larry Szurgot, he has the blog http://tuckerschukars.blogspot.com/

He is in Idaho and seems to like the solid liver GSP's.

dirtysteve: I really like the look of shady, but I am looking for a pup after hunting season this year, around the end of November.

Are Thunderhead, and Konig kennels one in the same, I see they have the same studs, and links to eachothers pages.

No, different kennels. They're good friends and pretty much share the same philosophy though.

Many many years ago, I remember an old horse trainer telling me he just loved when people came looking for - Palaminos' or white horses, or solid blacks or any color you can imagine. He smiled and told me... as long as I had the color they wanted, they overlooked many things they shouldn't have overlooked.

Be careful shopping for color........make sure you have all your priorities in order before you go to look at those cute little critters!

I appreciate the plug, there are a few potential breedings to Dez coming in the fall.

If anyone wants feedback on Dez, you can contact Brenda Roe. Or there are several people on the board that have seen him go.

He isn't perfect, but I sure like him.

I ran a NAVHDA test with a man last year who had some great liver gsp's. His male stud was a beast, the best looking gsp I have seen. Have his info somewhere, believe he was from Ohio.

Thank you guys for all the replies. I sure like the looks of Dez, if your are going to breed him i would sure like to be put on the shortlist. As long as it is after hunting season.
