Pup's pointing!
Third session in a row that she's pointed. She won't hold it very long, wants to go on in, but by golly she's pointing! She held this one about 20 seconds. She turns 3 months old in a few days.

Where is the thumbs up icon?

That's awesome, heck of a foundation you're laying with that pup. Keep it up! Hoping I get to see her, and meet you at the next training day.

Cute pup! Some of those lesser used breeds really suprise me when I see them. I think it was on here some time back, a guy posted videos of his Munsterlander working. The dog did a wonderful job.
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

That is the good stuff right there!

Re: Pup's pointing!
Thanks for the comments, guys. I'm really happy with her progression. We're keeping it all fun and games for now, playing a lot in the water and just letting her find birds and figure out how to use her nose, but not letting her catch birds anymore.
My niece, who fancies herself an expert dog trainer, is also enjoying it. She's taught her own dog all sorts of fun tricks, but she's enjoying learning about good techniques for teaching a hunting dog, and the logic behind the methods.
I want to thank the posters and sponsor at this board and for sure the guys at NAVHDA for the collective knowledge. I've learned a lot in a short time. I'm a guy who trained my first dog using the wing-on-string method and the Richard Wolters book. I want to do a better job this time, and couldn't do it without you guys.

She looks like she is eating well.
Was she sold to you as "pet quality" or is there any show potential. She has nice bone and looks like great coat. Any obvious faults?

Re: Pup's pointing!
She does enjoy her Pro Plan. She's gotten lankier in just the past few days, though.
The breeder, a veterinarian, said her conformation was great, and she said the photo above reaffirms her opinion. Shows were not part of my discussion with the breeder. But I pretty much had my pick of the litter, I think the breeder was very interested in placing a pup with a hunter. I'm just not sure I'd want to get into shows.

The reason I bring it up is that Spinones are really good dogs for junior handlers and she has that cobby look the judges go for.SpinoneIllinois wrote:She does enjoy her Pro Plan. She's gotten lankier in just the past few days, though.

Ah, the niece would totally get a kick out of that. I'll check into it.
