Vermont GSP or EP??? (I'm new)

Post by VTuplander » Sun Jun 24, 2012 11:56 am

Hello I am new here and I was wondering if there is anyone close to Northwestern Vermont that has a GSP or EP that I can watch. I am going to choose between these two breeds soon. I would love to see some in action for training. I have never trained a pointing dog and have had labs that I have trained in the past.

I would look for a NAVHDA chapter or a NASTRA puppy trial in your area. That way you can see many different dogs. If you aren't familiar with the abbreviations just run a google search.

What are you hunting? Your answer to that question could help answer the question. I.E. most EPs are not water fowl dogs, but a GSP will get out there and get a duck and bring it back. Take into consideration what you are hunting, what will fit your home life better, what will fit your family life better, and like Josh said, go out and watch many different breeds you may up liking a Springer or a Setter instead of the GSP or the EP.
