Top FC Horseback GSP Lines?

Post by Grousewing » Wed Jul 04, 2012 7:33 am

I need some help finding some of the top winning horseback german shorthair pointer lines that are currently being ran and bred today. I am in the market for a very well bred female pup and don't really know where to look. I would like to find some in the midwest if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think there are a lot of good lines out there for Horseback GSP's, a friend of mine has a litter on the ground out of Joker (he and his littermates have already amassed 3 National Championships and finished several FC's and AFC's). This litter also comes from the heart of BDK stuff. I know he has a couple good females left and he's a great guy to deal with.

Lots of good dogs out there, just sayin this litter is available now. Best of luck finding what you're looking for!

You might contact chiefdog of this website. Not sure what he has right now but I have run dogs with him and can tell you they are the biggest running GSP's I have ever seen.

It seems that most dogs winning major trials go back to Rusty and/or Slick.

I'm pretty sure they're all sold. The thread is in dogs for sale section.

On his FB page he has updated pictures of the dogs.

He has quite a few dogs that aren't on the website yet and I know he has pups on the ground right now and some on the way.

Do you want a true all age shorthair or a shooting dog shorthair?

There are PLENTY of really GOOD horseback shorthairs in NE Ohio. I've seen them all run at Tri-Valley where they can really ROLL.

Someone nailed it!

There are some lines that you would or would not want depending on the specific traits you are looking for. Color, range, etc.

FC Windjammer's bustin out has been throwing really nice dogs.

I think thats one of the nice things about that breed. There is a prrety deep genetic pool to select from. All kinds of good stuff out there!

I know what the pool is like in this part of the country, so i can only imagine what is in other parts!

All I know is when yo go to a GSP trial around these parts you had better bring your A+ game.

Thanks for all the info. I am in the market for a dog with lots of run, brains and hopefully a great nose as well. I have a lot of good leads to follow up on. Would be nice to find something around Michigan.

Bob Erbe here in NE has about as many FC from his lines as anyone I know.

Here's a link I found from the GSP Club of NE that shows a pic of FC/AFC Erbes Fire Skeeter - 2011 GSPCA Amateur Gun Dog of the Year: http://cajunkennels.netfirms.com/GSPC%20of%20Nebraska/

Check out Keg Creek Kennels. FC Keg Creeks Rising Cooper throws tons of style and run in all his pups! We have some puppies on the ground and will have a few more litters soon.
