Finding a water test?

Post by wems2371 » Sat Jul 07, 2012 1:37 pm

How do you know when there's a water test being held? AKC doesn't have anything separate in their events search for it, that I've seen.

Check the premium lists for trials in your area.

Most all "official" water tests will be held by a Weim club or a GWP club. I believe the Spins may now need a test to complete their SH or MH title as well.
I'd suggest you contact your local breed clubs that hold a hunt test or FT. They would be the ones to hold a water test.

There are a couple listed in the AKC Hunt test test section in AKC. They are might be a little far away from you. One is in Sioux Falls, SD put on by the SD Hunt Dog Club($20) on August 25th---they are puting this on at their Sat pointing dog hunt test. The other one is in Lawrence KS.($15). This one is put on by the wirehaired Vizsla Club on Aug. 17th. Pretty far to drive for a 5 or 6 minute test :!: You'll probably see more on the AKC hunt test site as people get their apps into AKC(usually about 3 months before the event.

Thanks! Yeah, that's a bit far. :?

At least I can see how they are shown though. By the info you gave, I was able to look it up. After not being able to find one on the AKC site, that's listed in the recent GDF Events for NY, I wasn't even sure how to find one.

If there is a weim or gwp club in your area, contact them and tell them you are interested in a water test. Often, the decision to hold one or not, is based on the number of entries they think they can get.

The Twin cities Wirehair club might have one later this year in Mn. or the Wi. wirehair club might have one around Labor day.
