Backing board
Anyone know where to get a backing board or even a template for one?

Re: Backing board
Here is a great way to get the best looking backing board.
Go to the recent thread, your favorite breed you have owned. Page down a few post to the pics of the stunning looking setter.
1 Print out the picture of the setter.
2 cut out the dog with a pair of scissors.
3 take a piece of plywood and lean it against the wall
4 take a flashlight and cast the shadow of the stunning setter on the plywood.
5 adjust the distance between the cutout of the setter, and the flashlight to get the correct size shadow on the plywood.
6 trace the shadow on the plywood, and then cut out the perfect backing board.

I had my dog lay down on a piece of plywood traced it and cut it out.painted it white on one side red on the other.I use a metal frame from a yard sings some politician left in my yard so I can set it up and move it easy.

Nice! Great to hear someone can make use of some of the crap that those people leave around. If you voted against the bum, you're getting a double benefit!brittfans wrote:.I use a metal frame from a yard sings some politician left in my yard so I can set it up and move it easy.
Re: Backing board
A few years ago, I just drew a shorthair's outline on a piece of plywood and cut it out. I painted both sides, one dark roan, the other a patched white, and put handles on both sides so that we could pop it up from either side. My nine-year-old daughter would lay in fields with the silhouette (with a launcher positioned out in front of her) and prop it up at the appropriate time. We'd rotate the sides to give the dog a little variety. Worked like a charm. I always got a kick out of my dog's reaction, as I could tell he was wondering where in the heck that other dog came from. I'd send him for the retrieve, and while he was doing that, Klaire would drop the silhouette, so we never gave our dog go up an opportunity to get close and investigate it. He'll still lock up tight upon sight of that piece of propped-up plywood.
