Predicaments we find ourselves in....
Its amazing the predicaments or situations we find our selves in due to having dogs. 99.9% of the time I can find humor in most anything. This is no exception.
With my bitch due to whelp out soon, I decided I best find our themometer to moniter her temperature. I can't for the life of me find it anywhere. No biggie, I'll run over to the Wal-Mart after I drop off our dryer thats on the blink, at the appliance store. Upon arrival, I go and find a vast array of rectal thermometers in the pharmacy. The cheapy's take at least 60 seconds to readout an accurate temp. The more pricey ones ($5.98) readout in 9 seconds... I decided that if it were me, I wouldn't want that thing in my bottom any longer than neccessary, so I splurged on it for the sake of my dog.
Then, I realized I had better get some lubricant and some gloves.... I detest being ill prepared, and If I have to turn a pup or assist in delivery or dislodge a pup, I know those two items I'll need. Content with my assertive purchases, I headed to the checkout. I am easily distracted, so the "Dora The Explorer" sport bottle on the endcap caught my eye. I decided that my daughter, Haley would really enjoy that. So, in the cart it went...
Upon being greeted by a jovial elderly lady at the checkout I noticed the "Mood" changing as my items ran up the conveyer. I wondered if I should explain myself?? I started to say "Those 3 items are for my dog..." Then I stopped myself and realized nothing good could possibly come from making that statement, so I paid up and walked away.

Aw go ahead. I'd like to hear this explanation!
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

You forgot the canned peaches.
Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

See.... this is where I would have had a little fun. I might have had to add something to the effect, "Mom and Dad throw the craziest theme parties..."
I still have to look at the ceiling when I am checking out with a box of pads for the diapers when the girls come into season!

I would have just smiled at the person and asked them politely to not judge me

While you were at it, you should have asked the clerk if she knew of any place where you could catch pigeons.

You should have thrown in a pack of gum and cigarettes. Then asked the cashier what she was doing later.
