? for those with multiple dogs

I have a three year old vizsla that is coming along nicely. I would like another dog but don't want to interfere or in any way have a negative effect on her or her progress. I have had two dogs before but normally a guard dog and a hunting dog. I want what's best, if I should hold off I will. Thanks

I have 5 Vizslas, 4 of which hunt - it has only helped my dogs to have others around! One of mine is 2 years old, with 3 legs of her MH and field trial placements. Adding younger, inexperienced dogs did not cause any setbacks in her training.

When I first came to where I am now, I brought 18 sdogs with me, I think five of my own. Each got their own time and when solid on birds and backing, two at a time. Get another dog. How many kids you have?

I have two children. A teenager and a ten month old. The vizsla really does not seem to care for the baby much. Loves to lick her but when approached by the baby the dog moves off. I'm hoping they bond at some point.

I have two. There was a lot of grab-assery for some time, but it's calmed down dramatically. One advantage of having two dogs is that they're often able to entertain each other. And it's fun watching them interact. It's interesting how they pick up quirks and habits from each other, yet they have their separate personalities.
The pup is about 5 months old. I haven't quite figured out yet if I'm going to let them hunt together in the beginning. For one thing, the brit can run circles around the spinone. I could see us limiting out before the spinone even gets a shot at a point.
Anyway, I say you go for it.

I am in a similar situation.
I have 3 adult Brittanys and have just added 1 young pup. The older dogs help to train the younger ones every time. I would say, go for it.

Just like raising children, you get a little better and more relaxed with the 2nd one. Just remember each dog is different and learn at different paces.

I would say go for it, plus from my life experiences and from my children's (more-so my son's) life seems a little better with more paws in the house

I think 4 to 7 dogs is just right.

You must be careful because a puppy can get hurt, just slamming and ramming around with a adult dog.
