New pigeon loft
New pigeon loft
Finally got the pigeon loft built. Got the plans from Lion Country Supply and it worked out pretty well with one exception. Somehow there's a gap between the floor and the bottom of the walls. Easy enough to fix but if you get that plan make sure you check before you put the floor in (plan calls for putting floor in first). Anyway, here's what it looks like.

Thats awesome! Legit pigeon house
Re: New pigeon loft
Put 1/4 inch hardware cloth over those opening on the floor. Will give the loft good ventilation and keep the floor dry. You can't have too much ventilation or light in a good loft.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!
Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.

She'll be here thius afternoon. I was going to make her some cantliever's to put in there. I'll pass that suggestion on. I've got 1/2" hardware cloth here if she'd rather the stuff.ezzy333 wrote:Put 1/4 inch hardware cloth over those opening on the floor. Will give the loft good ventilation and keep the floor dry. I have those plans and it's been too hot and I've been too lazy to build the loft. Your pictures are great. I think I'm inspired to get my butt in gear.
Re: New pigeon loft
The birds seem to be settling right in. I think I found a nice spot that is out of the wind and is behind a nice tree that will provide a little shade. This thing was built over the course of about 3 weeks in the few minutes we've had between running our butts off at work and dark. There's still a little trim work to do so it scales a little higher on the 'precious' factor. I've decided to put some metal cloth around that gap until winter then we'll raise the floor up to match the wall bases. Incidentally, I cut some plastic non-stick shelf liner and put it on the floor. I think it'll make cleaning it a whole lot easier and keep things a little nicer for the birds. I'm pretty stoked about the whole thing. Thanks a bunch Don for the birds, you got a monster loaf of home-made pumpkin bread headed your direction.

I built that loft for my first and used wire on the floor so the droppings would hit the ground and I could just rake it out of the sand. I then moved up to a Redrose loft and am now looking to build another.

Gertie what is the dimensions of that? I have been looking for plans for a nice small coop. Looks great by the way.
