Advice What Starter Pistol

Post by uplandguide » Wed Aug 29, 2012 11:25 am

Please help me buy the best Starter pistol I can buy. I have read all the threads and I still cant make a decision. Price is no concern I just want dependability! I want to buy once and have a dependable firing pistol for training and trialing. Alpha, Gun-X, Viper,? I've had cheap and Im ready to through them away. I ve heard lots about the old school NEF but cant seem to find anymore.

Please Advise..

Respectfully,

I like NEF (I've got one in 32 & 22---had them since 1993---they last forever) but they don't make them anymore. You will see some used ones come up in the dog equipment section every once in a while. Only disadvantage to NEF is you have to watch the cylinder pin---If it falls out you lose the cylinder. The easy prevention is to get a 50 cent o-ring(same dia. as barrel) and roll it up the barrel to where the pin is---pin can't come out without taking the o-ring off. :D

I would say the GUN X out of the 3 you mentioned though I have never seen a viper.Gun X has a lifetime warranty & was designed from the Nef from what I understand.

Good Luck!!

Gun X but a lifetime warranty is only as good as the lifetime of the company. Hard to collect on a problem with a company that is out of business, like NEF.
