Hope you find her. If you haven't done so, start posting on Facebook. It is amazing how fast people cross post and the information can spread.

definitely use Facebook. If you are not on there, find a friend who is and ask them to share with everyone!
Also, Craigslist in your area and surrounding areas. Sometimes people will pick up a dog, take it home and post it in their area, not where the dog was found.

call the police, every Vet within 50 miles, flyers..... post on every dog chat you can find.

Tell us where the dog was lost!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I hope she turns up!!

I was on another forum the other day, and was surprised to find this posted:

How are French Britneys to train?

Mine was pretty easy. They are very intelligent and don't take well to a hard hand. By 7 months I had Arrow pointing chukar (a little bit of a creep the first year) and grouse. Her second year I finished her retrieving and have been quite happy since. My biggest problem with my pup was running off her first year (gone for hours at a time) which is not supposed to be an issue with the FB but it was for us.

Don't give up!!! Lost my dog this time last year found him 3 days later about 3/4 of a mile from where he was last seen, keep asking everyone and getting the word out there. I would have never found him without the help of family, friends, and neighbors. You have my prayers at this time I know it's heartbreaking.

Thank’s everyone for the info and well wishes. Tough day. What was supposed to be a fun training day with my father turned into one of the worst days of our lives. My father is especially devastated.
We drove around for 12 hours straight yesterday in hopes of seeing her cross a road or plowed field. Still lots of crops on…corn, beans and beets. Makes it tough.

Lost in Ada, MN….45 minutes north of Fargo.

We’ve posted on Facebook, Craigslist, local radio station and in the paper.

Talked to the local police department and sheriffs office.
Good idea about calling the vets, will start that.

Thanks again everyone!

Also contact feed stores and grain elevators. Good luck. Mine turned up two days later and three miles away and a friend had two out for six days until they dashed in a beauty parlor fifteen miles from where she lost them. I guess the setter needed a comb out. :D

Put up pink neon signs at section road crossings if you can. Phone number, LOST DOG, just enough to catch someone's attention.

I have lost and recovered several dogs. I always put up a lot of posters - with photo and the word REWARD. They are also god handouts when you are combing the countryside.

Did she leave the house or when out walking or training.

If out and about. Put down some clothing of yours or your Dads in the last place known and a couple more a 100 yards away from that area. Hang it up and on the ground. More than likely she headed into the wind but may come back to the original location.

I hope you get her back soon.
Good luck.

There is a group K9amberalert@yahoogroups.com (or something close to that) you can post. Try to make contact with school bus drivers and mail man. Get your poster near a school kids cover a lot of area. A friend of mine found his dog by telling a lot of kids. Some of them on 4 wheelers found him.

Good morning,

Great news, Georgia was returned to our family yesterday afternoon!!! Lot's and lots of tears and but waggin'! She was about 15 miles from my parents place near a neighboring town. She was tired, thirsty, hungry, little dirty and a few burs but otherwise seems to be in good shape. She's off to the vet today for a once over.

Huge thanks to everyone for the support, positive thoughts, and useful tips. This post was very helpful. This was the first time we had ever lost a dog for more than hour. I believe we used everything stated above. Quite the experience, hopefully we never have to experience anything like that again.

Thanks again everyone!!!

Well, she had been spotted a few times, always in the morning and evening. So we started our search early yesterday morning. I was a few miles from Ada when my sister called and said one of her friends had spotted Georgia just a 1/2 mile south of town on busy Hwy 9. Her friend got of the car called for Georgia and she bolted into a cornfield. We all split up in different directions about a mile from where she was spotted in hopes of finding her. Little did we know until after the fact that her friend was actually trying to call a young red fox, the reason "Georgia" bolted into the cornfield.

During this time we actually picked up a husky mix that was lost and dangerously close to hwy 9, the police department wasn't open yet so he cruised around in the car with me. He sat in the front seat just as good as could be.

My sister was helping search but had a meeting at 10 something so she went back into town.

After finding the husky his home we continued our search for Georgia. We continued to drive around and walked a few different areas. My dad and I were walking an old railroad bed that was about a mile from where we thought Georgia was last spotted. We walked in opposite directions down the railroad bed. I had my little mutt Jersey with, I was hoping that she could help somehow since her and Georgia are buds. I was about a 1/2 mile from my vehicle when I got a call from a guy that I knew in town. He runs the car wash on the edge town and its only about a 1/2 mile from the last spotting.

This is how the call went over about a 20 second span.

Him: "Are you still looking for your dads dog?"
Me: "Yeah, we are."
Him: "Is she a golden color?"
Me: "Well, she is orange but people might say she's a golden color"
Him: "Does she have short hair?"
Me: "Yeah, shorter" (My dad shaves her in the summer)
Him: "Floppy ears?"
Me: " Yeah, I guess they are a little floppy"

Me: "Does the dog have a tail?"
Him: "Nope"
Me: "Does she have a purple collar"
Him: "Nope but she is really nice, my guys (his employees) are out front playing with her right now"

Well, I'm just as excited as could be, I leave my dad in the field since he's about a mile from me and his cell is in my car. I hurry into town, get to the car wash and the dog turns out to be a vizsla.

Ada currently has road construction going on and the vizsa belonged to one of the workers that was in town. So she gets returned safely.

The morning had been an absolute roller coaster of emotions to say the least. A little before 1:00 pm we decided to grab some lunch. A little after 1:00pm my sister calls, she's absolutely sobbing. She says, "You can stop looking for Georgia...." uncomfortably long pause and I'm thinking the worst since she had been spotted near a couple of busy highways. She then proceeds to say, "Because she's sitting in my office with me!" I instantly start crying, I yell down to my dad in the basement and he instantly starts sobbing.

My sisters friend (Sharnel) had gone out on her own to look for Georgia and low and behold she found Georgia plodding down a gravel road. Her friend stopped, "Said hey Georgia", Sharnel said Georgia looked scared and wasn't to sure about her. Sharnel opened her SUV door and said, "Georgia, you want to go hunting?" and Georgia hopped right in.

Sharnel and her daughter brought Georgia to my sisters office. They knocked on the door and the little girl said, "Is this your puppy?". Shortly after is when my sister called.

We are so glad she is back. It was one of the worst experiences ever. Our family can't imagine life without Georgia. We honestly used every bit of info above, it was all very helpful. GDF members are the best!!!

My 6 year old niece absolutely loves Georgia, tells everyone that Georgia is her dog. She says last night, "Well, back to bird training!" She didn't want to waste anytime. It was cute.

The speed at which you can get info around via Facebook is absolutely amazing.

One last thing, GDF always has topics about breeders/kennels who to use, what to look for etc...Many of you know that Georgia came from Mark Dinsmore/L'Etoile du Nord Kennel, on here ohmymy111. Mark truly is a great dude. Once he heard the news about Georgia he called to ask if their was anything he could help with, even offered to drive to Ada to help search. Gave us hope and positivity. Our family thought that was pretty darn cool of him.

Thank you again GDF members! Our family really can't thank everyone enough!!!

My Swedish buddy's grandfather owned the farm the Ada golf course sits on now. I've driven through Ada about 9 times in the last two months, always following Hwys 10, 9 & 200. My nephew-in-law's dad still farms near Ada. His uncle is pretty well known in the area & used to train dogs. I don't know if he still does. My great-grandfather homesteaded near Twin Valley & I still have relatives there.

Everyone in the area knows about the actual newspaper headline regarding a deadly accident decades ago invoving the nearby towns of Climax & Fertile, "Fertile Woman Dies in Climax".

You're lucky you don't have to go too far east to get into Ruffed Grouse and the numbers look pretty decent this year. As a matter of fact I got my first grouse of the season at midnight last Fri. evening right on Hwy 200. Dumb thing was in the middle of my lane and I wasn't about to wreck my vehicle avoiding it. MN road kill - yum! 8)

Glad you found the dog ... saved me a trip in your direction.

So glad to hear that Georgia is home. Good thing the kleenex box was handy, I had to use a couple..... Many of us have been through the 'lost dog' ordeal and know something of what you went through. Family and community support is what keeps you going. Kiss Georgia and hug her for all of us. Now we want hunting stories from you this fall.
