i was soo lucky with the first one!
Soo lucky with Kimber that I didn't have to wait to get her. So now the wait begins until I pick up my new puppy. I don't see how some of you can wait from the time of breeding until you can pick the pup up.
A good friend has a few pups from his last litter that he was evaluating. I asked and he has one he thinks would fit what I like to a T. And since Kimber doesn't want to come into season I thought I would go ahead and get me one. May be able to run in puppy stakes this season!!!

I know your pain. I waited from the point from before the stud and dam tied until 7 weeks, and I was going insane! Best of luck to you and your upcoming pup!ultracarry wrote:Thanks. I'm the worst at waiting .

Re: i was soo lucky with the first one!
She prob won't come in this fall but when she does I will breed her and may give a discount to someone for pick puppy or first breeding .... That buys me two years. Then I can retire Kimber. I'm going to run her occasionally this year but not much. She is getting old you know!bossman wrote:So now what are your plans when Kimber does come into season? Enjoy your new pup!

Kimber was your first birddog? You didn't have any experience before her?
In any event, it sounds like you did luck out. If she runs half as nice as she looks it's no wonder she finished in the field so quickly.

Re: i was soo lucky with the first one!
Pet shop bought by ex wife, given to a trainer who fried her for a month and a half when I found out (she ran too big for him). Boarded her for another three months for Mon-Friday I trained her on the weekends. When I got done with the program I was in I could work her on my own and did 4-5 days a week. Met a pro and he helped break her at a year old. She ran puppy, Derby, and gun dog stakes all in the same weekend (won puppy and Derby and got through clean with multiple finds in gun dog and open limited) . Finished her field championship within 7 months of her first Derby/puppy stakes. May be the best dog I will ever own. Hope not though because I know she was a little screwed up...
I never wanted her and she was a gift. I guess its just luck.

Re: i was soo lucky with the first one!
Yep. The male was purchased by a woman from a reputable breeder and the female was also purchased as a pet by the same lady. Even though the female was sold as a pet only she bred the two every time she came into season. She couldn't sell the pups for $150 so she consigned them to a pet shop. Wife bought her for my birthday.
I did a lot of searching to find all the details and i guess I'm pretty lucky. Just a little.

Holy Christ, I hope you buy a lottery ticket every now and then.
Couldn't sell the pups for $150? Lady had no idea what she had, did she? Amazing.

Re: i was soo lucky with the first one!
I almost got her brother at a year old and when I talked to the girl with a $ amount she said he died hunting. Got Hung up in loose barb wire and hung himself.
Two other brothers are fixed and another female... All look like killer dogs and cookie cutters.
BTW the pet shop sold them for 550...

Don I'm just happy mine is an ex wife now
Matt she isn't great, just slightly above average. Or at least that's what I think.

I heard she isn't that good - you just got lucky a dozen or so times.
