Scammers

Post by tnbirddogman » Thu Jul 27, 2006 9:30 pm

The scammers are still out there and they are looking for their next victim. I have seen on other websites such as NSTRA.org that people with pups or dogs for sale have contacted trying to buy their dogs with cashiers checks. They send you a cashiers check for more than the purchase price and want you to send them the difference. The only problem is that the check is no good and you get screwed. I have a litter for pointer pups for sale and i got a phone call from one of these scammers tonight. The lady that called said that she was calling from an internet service that provided services for the deaf or hard of hearing. She said that she relay the message that the call typed and then relay my message to the caller. They really didn't ask any questions about the pups like bloodline, how many femalesor males, they just wanted to know if i would take cashiers check. After i told the caller that the pups had to be picked up at my home and paid for in cash the caller hang up. Just wanted to let everyone that dishonest people will try anything to make a dollar.

I have had at least 5 of these emails concerning my litter that is advertised on two sites. Scary that these people are out there, but who would sell a pup to someone who didn't show much interest in the pup? Is there someone that investigates these scammers?

With regards to catching these people, I wonder if the postal inspectors would be interested. If they are sending these checks through the mail, I would assume that would mail fraud. I posted a shotgun on another BB and got an E-mail offering 5X what I was asking for the gun, unbelievable!

I prefer to work by telephone, I will email a couple of times back and forth, then give my no and they can call me. Talkig training or buying a pup needs to be talked about IMO. That will knock out most scammers

The same people called me and I told them to send me the check. Then I told them my name was spelled wrong on the check and if they would give me their address I would send it back. They would not (wonder why) and that was the end of our conversation. I bet they were mad I got to waste their time.

Had a new scam tactic last night at 11:30pm.. The got my cell number from an online classified ad selling pups. The called some type of operator that would read their instant message to me and then the operator would type them a message from me back to them. They said they wanted to buy a pup and wanted me to email them all the details, as they were ready to buy. I say if you can't talk to me in person, you should have a pup. Certainly this is a crime? Even your phone isn't safe any longer!
