New Britt pup. Can anyone tell me about the Pedigree

Just got my Britt pup (5 months old) from a family that didnt have much time for him. They gave me his pedigree and I know some of you guys are good at checking these things out. I attacthed a scan of it in this thread....

No AKC titled dogs in the first 3 generations(not saying they don't hunt just saying they don't run competion). Forth generation has 2 Hall Of Fame brittanys(national all age champs) and a National Gun Dog Champ in it. Good huntin' with your new huntin' partner.

You have some great dogs back in the 4th generation. Probably their blood has carried forward and produced some good hunting dogs. If I am right you should have a nice pup that hopefully will turn out to be a good one.

Thats awesome. I can tell just after one day, after some training, he is going to be a great dog. He likes to stare at the birds in the trees and flying overhead. I also have a pet rat in the cage, and when he seen it, he stopped about 3 feet from the cage, and pointed. Taking him outside, he was following a scent trail, and tried to go into the shrubs in the front of the house.

Right now he is getting some rest, laying on the floor with his mallard duck toy!

Enjoy it for the next few months while socializing, going for walks in the field, and teaching house manners and next summer you will have time to start doing some training in the field with some birds.

When I went to petco the guy that worked there said not to give him any rawhide bones, or any hard bones while he still has his puppy teeth. Then after about 8 months to a year it will be ok. Is this true?

Leather chews are over rated. My dog always preferred my good boots, my wifes' tennis shoes, or the coffee table edges.

You pup should be done teething some time between 4 to 6 months. I have never seen a rawhide chew do any damage. One thing that you may want to remember is that most people at petco do not raise animals. Some do, but most don't.

My pup (~4 months) was chewing on his rawhide last night and we noticed a little blood on it. Is there anything to worry about or is this normal? I haven't noticed him losing any teeth yet.

You should start watching for those missing teeth.
