Re: National Finals Payback??
I found something on the web that says the winner at Ame's gets $20,000. Any one know if that is right? How many places down do they pay? How many entries are there and how much is the entry fee for this event?
How about NSTRA?
Nobody has any information on this subject? It might make for an interesting article somewhere.

34 entries at Ames last year http://www.amesplantation.org/field-tri ... nopsis.asp 40 the year before, and you either win or go home. CH only - no other placements.smoothbean wrote:I found something on the web that says the winner at Ame's gets $20,000. Any one know if that is right? How many places down do they pay? It's against the By-Laws of the NSTRA to award money for any placement.
Re: National Finals Payback??
I seem to remember that the entry fee at Ames is $1,500. This is purely from memory of seeing the ad in the American Field, I could be wrong.

Correct, but there's usually a prize of some sort like a tri Tronics collar system or dog box or something like that.tnbirddogman wrote:It's against the By-Laws of the NSTRA to award money for any placement.

The premiums published in The American Field list the entry fees and prizes. AKC is not a money game, per se.

I am at the American Brittany Club Nationals as I type this The only cash prize is garnered in the Calcutta. The entries barely and sometimes don't: cover expenses Excess funds in breed clubs largely gets spent on research, rescue and legislation.

Where can a person find a list of the 70 qualifying trials?
Is a win at Ames the most prestigious accomplishment a dog/person can have? Suppose opinions are varied.

Ames=Superbowl. Everything else is equivilant to CNFL and European football.

I have to agree that the hallowed ground and the Nat Championship is the pinnacle from my perspective However it doesn't mean that the division chanpionship wasn't a tougher game to win or that a high school game somewhere didn't mean more to somebody
Re: National Finals Payback??
How do you qualify for Ames and is it open to all pointing breeds?

Re: National Finals Payback??
There are several qualifying stakes run througout the year you need to place in to qualify. It is open to all pointing breeds, just need to be FDSB registered. That said the last setter to win was 1970 and it has been pointers ever since. Pretty much all pointers and some setters running in the AF game.
