2013 FREE STUFF -- Contest Ideas Needed!

OK. It's about time for a contest! I'm not sure what I want to give away, but you can help me decide.

1) Go to our sponsor's Web site, http://www.gundogsupply.com/

2) Find something you think we should give away here on Gun Dog Forum.

3) Reply to this message with a link to that page's URL, write a couple of sentences about why YOU would want to win it, and why all the folks at GDF would need something like this.

When I get enough different ideas, I'll pick one and THEN we'll start the first contest. You might not win your suggestion, but I promise some goodies to the person who makes the suggestion for the prize that I do pick! Ready, go!

EXAMPLE: You should give away a Garmin Alpha: http://www.gundogsupply.com/garmin-tri- ... ystem.html

Every GDF member would love one of these. Track and train from the same screen? Who wouldn't love that? The ALPHA will make hunting and running your dogs a lot more fun.

How about something small for participants that have been members of the forum for at least a few months, like 5-10% off? Everyone's a winner, but you have a grand prize! It would be like how we teach kids today that play sports... Just because you finish last doesn't mean you aren't the best!

Good idea. I think we could have a GDF special or something. Let me ask our sponsor as well as see what folks are interested in.

You should give away a set of the Perfect Start/Perfect Finish training DVDs: http://www.gundogsupply.com/pestpefisetd1.html

It'd be just a refresher for the many knowledgeable folks here. But for newcomers and novices, it'd be a dandy prize.

I'd surely like to win one of these remote launcher and backing dummy kits since I'm getting ready to start training my first pointing dog without having them started by a pro. Also have a 3 1/2 year old that only backs when she wants to that could use the services of the backing dummy.

The Garmin Alpha would be the ultimate prize. The reason why everyone should own one, not only will you know where your dogs are, you will also know where you are. Make sleeping under the stars your decision.

I for one would love to win the garmin so I don't have to buy one!

But since it has its' entry already, I'll put in this combo:

For the beginning dog trainer or even the seasoned professional: an alfa 209 starting kit and the Perfect Start DVD. What a great combo for a someone new to dog training! One of the most serious mistakes the new dog owner makes is improper gun introduction. Learn here from the experts at Perfection Kennels how to properly introduce your dog to the shotgun....and have a dog who lives for the shot the rest of his life. The Perfect Start DVD will show you proper bird and gun introduction, retrieving, pointing, and how to handle your newbie as you develop him into a fantastic hunting or field trial companion. I've used both products for the past 6 dogs I've owned and trained, plus 4 rescue pointers that have gone on to great hunting homes as a result of the training I've received from Perfection Kennels. My Master Hunter Vizsla was trained using the Perfection Kennel methods and we breezed through the MH testing while our new GSP pup's first field trial included a first in the puppy class and second in the derby class. Thanks Perfection Kennel for helping me to enjoy my dogs once the season is over!

If you want a well-rounded hunting companion and need some tools to help you get the job done, I recommend the Perfect Start DVD as a starting point for your training adventure.

Gift certificate is a good idea. A lot of people already have a tracking system. If they won they could either upgrade to Garmin or get something else they want.

What about something like a Training Starter kit. Might include a Whistle, Blank Pistol, Check Cord, Bird Launcher, bird pouch, etc?

Other than that I would love to win a Garmin Astro.

I would say something like a GunX starter pistol because it quality built and going to last years unlike most of the $70 ones that many of us purchase that last less than a year.

My vote is for a prize package something like this, check cord, whistle, starterpistol, dvd training system,e collar,a dummie or two, flat collar, lead, launcher all in a nice bag with gun dog supply embroidered on the side. I would love to win a prize package from gun dog supply, I would put it to use. I think GDF members could also benefit from winning a prize package there would be something for everyone from a newbie to a pro. And for the person that gets to put together this prize package it would be alot more fun then just picking one large item to give away

p.s the dog thinks there should be something in the bag for her, a nylabone or a kong, i guess its not all about what i want

I would love to win this Filson Tote Bag with Zipper: http://www.gundogsupply.com/filson-tote ... ipper.html.
This bag would have two purposes: 1) It is perfect for storing and carrying Mason's training/hunting/traveling gear. 2) We have a baby girl due in March and this would be a great substitute for her diaper bag when I am the one carrying her stuff around.

Hey, Steve. I'd be willing to contribute a few items - collars or leads - to the cause for boot. Just shoot me the names of a person or so who won them and I'll get them in the mail. Will give any color, type and a custom name plate on each item.

Here is a link if you would like some more information. www.StonefaceGear.com

Good idea so why not ask the question and the prize is a gift certificate drawn at random? Maybe decide how much you'll invest and divide that by six. Then make the gift certificate that amount and give away one every other month for those that posted here. The Garmin is about $550 isn't it? Well do six certificate's for $100 each, one every other month by drawing. Doing that just might give the person winning it enough to pay the price for something they want but can't afford. Matter of fact, maybe you should have an entry for a drawing like that on your web site?

I remember a deal from when I was stationed in Germany over 40 yrs ago. My wife and I were in a store in Kasierslautern and when we entered the building, we were given a cup of coffee. When the cup got low, they'd refill it for you. I asked them why they do that and was told it keep's the customer in the store longer. The longer they are there the more likely they'll buy something, coffee they informed me, was dirt cheap!

I'm sure you can track sales of products through the store computer, that'll tell you which items are hot and which aren't, the more and longer they look at your site, the more likely they will spend money. I get catalogs from several places every time they put out a new one. I keep them and look through them a lot, my wish books! And I buy from they, often things I can't really afford or justify. One company I really like is Midway. I have several of their catalogs around, look thru they all the time and buy from them. Then they discontinued the catalog and I havent been to their web site once. I've never looked at their web site.

Are you doing 1 drawing or monthly drawings, and is there going to be 1 winner or say 3? Have you figured out price ranges for these if so? The more we know about what you are willing to give away, the more we know what and where to to focus at item and price wise.

My cheap starter pistol is also falling apart and becoming unreliable. Kind of hard to train without one. This would solve that problem.

I was thinking of ways for us to support GDS while GDS supports the forum and contest. I hope this all makes sense. This would all depend on GDS's margins, but hear me out.

What if GDS supplies a coupon code for GDF members for a limited amount of time? Just as an example, lets say the coupon is for 10% off. GDS then takes a % (again, for the example I will say 10%) of everything purchased using that coupon code and puts it into a pot for the contest winner.

With this example, if we collectively we purchase $5000 in gear (at a 10% discount), the winner of the contest wins $500 in prizes or credit. GDS wins because although their profit is reduced on the purchases, they are still making money and sponsoring the site/contest at the same time. Everybody that participates wins by getting a discount on supplies we need/want and we justify the expense as helping GDF, and one lucky person wins BIG!

Ok, enough procrastinating. Back to the books.

You could give away a lot of items, kind of like a start up kit or an advanced kit.
including things like, e-coller (and or tracker) some bumpers, duck bumpers and some launchers, pigeon launchers
just an idea
