Just got this from our friends at Garmin/Tri-Tronics
Smith Family Joins Garmin/Tri-Tronics Team

Industry Colleague:

We are very excited to announce that the team of Rick Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Susanna Love are now proudly using e-collars and dog tracking systems designed and built by Garmin and Tri-Tronics. Rick Smith, his cousin Ronnie, and Ronnie’s wife Susanna are truly the “first family” of bird dog training, having refined a dog training system originally pioneered by Delmar Smith, Rick’s father.

“The Smiths easily have more than a century of dog training knowledge among them, and it’s a real honor to have them on the Garmin and Tri-Tronics team,” said Ted Gartner, Garmin’s director of corporate communications. “We are looking forward to utilizing their knowledge and experience to help us build really innovative products for the future.”

“Part of what attracted us to Garmin and Tri-Tronics is their reputation for reliable and easy-to-use gear,” noted Rick Smith. “But what really got our attention is their unique ability in the industry to use new technology to help change the way we train and hunt with our dogs.”

Rick and Ronnie Smith are renowned for their series of interactive Huntsmith seminars (http://www.huntsmith.com), held around the country for beginning, intermediate, and advanced trainers and their dogs. In addition, Ronnie and Susanna run Ronnie Smith Kennels (http://www.ronniesmithkennels) in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, where they offer expert bird dog training and trainer apprenticeships.

For more than 40 years, Tri-Tronics has been the leader and pioneer in electronic dog training products. In early 2007, Garmin entered the sporting dog market with the world’s first GPS-enabled canine tracking system. In June of 2011, Tri-Tronics was acquired by Garmin and today operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Last fall, the combined company introduced the Alpha, a combined tracking and training system for sporting dogs.
