buying meat in bulk

Does anyone have a website where you can bulk buy meat? I currently buy chicken leg quarters in 40lbs boxes for 79 cents a pound

Do you have a local butcher? Shipping meats usually ads more to the cost then just buying it locally but it sure doesn't hurt to look. Let me know what you find as im researching also.'

I have checked with all my stores/butcher and the best I have come across was chicken leg qters .59 a lbs wish i got a lot when that deal was going on! I wish I could find beef a little cheaper, best I have come across is 5lbs for $11. 00. I guess if I can keep my meat buy below $1.21 I'll be doing ok.

I've been kind of interested in this entire meat feeding deal for a while now. I'd be interested in hearing more about it. Portions, kind of meat, etc etc.

When I talked with the meat suppliers I asked,
Me: do you guys have any meat that does not make the cut?
Butcher: well what are you looking for.
Me: Im looking for cheap meat such as maybe meat that is almost to it's date. Its just for my dogs.
Butcher: OH well no meat is bad! i use it all. I do have pet food meat tho.
Me: how much?
Butcher: $2.39
Me: Ok thanks, bye

walmart is the best place on price unless you find something on sale.

Bulk eggs
chicken leg qtrs .75 cents a lb
cottage cheese in the big quart
and the beef they have already in a roll, 5 lbs for $11

I don't know if you have any Hutterite colonies there, but around me they are by far the cheapest source for chicken in bulk.

Its a religious colony (German Farmers), kind of like an Amish colony however they use machinery and modern everything. They sell poultry, hogs etc, at a very reasonable price.

Edit: I looked it up and there are no Hutterite Colonies in IL.

Do you have an auction barn locally and the stomach/mindset to get it done yourself? A fellow I know here locally goes to the auction and buys every llama that comes across the block,he seldom pays more than 10 dollars for the whole animal,he's a butcher,he feeds them to his coon dogs and boy do they look good.We live in an area with farming and a bunch of no farming hobby farmers that have a 5-10 acre chunk, lot's of llamas, seems to be a draw for the california transplants that moved here to have llamas. They sell everything under the sun at the auction here, from old wore out milk cows to gamebirds, just have to go on monday at noon and see who brought what to get rid of.

well her is the deal with that! I hunt deer and my wife really gets mad if i kill does! And i would love to kill a few just for meat but my wife will not have that! And I only shoot big bucks so its kinda hard to get meat for the dogs and kill big bucks. Now as for buying anything and killing it, well I should just move out now! Ill keep the peace...

Too bad Elhewpointer is no longer on here, he feeds raw and does it for less than .50/lb. Prepackaged ground beef with added bone, egg, and other vitamins. looks to be real good stuff.
