Garmin Alpha/Astro

Post by Back » Sat Mar 02, 2013 9:50 pm

I've been looking at the Alpha pretty seriously over the past week and am getting ready to hit the buy button...

Before I do, I wanted to see if anyone knew about any new update/upgrades that were getting ready to come out on the Alpha. It seems like when the Astro came out, they kept updating the collars pretty quickly.

It is easy to up date on line.

Just call Garmin and they will talk you through it.

GREAT customer service!!!

Check amazon before you buy elsewhere. We upgraded our astro last year and Amazon' prices were FAR BETTER than any of the gun dog supply places online (over $100 better), and I received my astro in 3 days.

Believe it or not Cabelas had the best price a couple months back when I got mine. I wish I checked there first before I bought mine.

I buy as much as possible from GDS. Best customer service I've had. My Astro 320 started wigging out after one use and GDS sent a new one right away along with a return shipper for the bad one. So when I decided to buy the Alpha, GDS was my first choice.

Does anyone know if you can just use the regular astro collar with the alpha if you wanted to add a dog without having to buy a additional alpha/e-collar? I really need two tracking collars and not the e-collar feature on both, plus you could use the regular tracking collar in a trial if needed. J

I have an astro. My understanding is that the astro and alpha collars are not interchangeable.
