Who pays for shipping for stud fee pup?
I have bred GSP's for 17 years and have never had a "across the country" stud dog owner want a pup for stud fee. Have done exchange with local stud dog owners.
What is appropriate in this exchange of pup for stud fee?
Am I responsible for shipping pup to stud dog owner?
Are they responsible for shipping costs?
Do we split costs?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated from those that have dealt with this service.

Bitch pays costs whether is chilled, frozen or live coverage.

that would not cover shipping the puppy at 8 weeks old would it?Brazosvalleyvizslas wrote:Bitch pays costs whether is chilled, frozen or live coverage.

I would say bitch pays travel for breeding and stud would pay puppy shipping.

Stud fee is usually a set price by the stud owner and paid by the bitch owner or in your case the exchange of a puppy. So I would say all you are responsible for is the puppy and the stud owner would pay shipping.
Best thing to do is ask him how he would like this handled before any breeding takes place that way no problems will arise down the road.

IMO If the stud owner is across the country and wants a puppy, it's his/her responsibility to pick up or pay to ship the puppy.

I'd say stud if they are wanting a pup for fee. Spliting isnt a bad idea either.
Re: Who pays for shipping for stud fee pup?
If the guy you bred to down the street came and picked up his pup why would the same not be true for anyone else?
Re: Who pays for shipping for stud fee pup?
Stud should pay. Deal for stud fee in exchange for pup is the way it works. Way of receiving the pup is deal in its own.

Pup is FOB at the bitch's home kennel. But I do agree it should have been determined before the breeding.

Thanks for all the input.
I'm going to talk and hope to split shipping.
As usual with us field trial guys, getting pups with other trial guys is worth a lot.
