AKC Registration - Name Ideas
AKC Registration - Name Ideas
So I picked up my yellow lab last week and named him "Doc". I need some ideas for naming him when I register him with the AKC/UKC. The Sires name is "Jack" and the dam's name is "Ritzi", so I thought about registering him as "Dr. Jack Ritzi". Im not a part of a kennel so there will be nothing before his nane. Any other ideas?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: AKC Registration - Name Ideas
I use song titles for names.
Re: AKC Registration - Name Ideas
Are those the call names of the sire and dam, or registerred names, or both?
Cause Doc has lots of ways to go.

Below is the sire and dam of my pup and their pedigrees. As you can see, Jack and Ritzi are their call names. I kinda thought about doing something around "Doc Holiday" as well.SHNOOL wrote:Are those the call names of the sire and dam, or registerred names, or both?

I know a dog named "(name of the kennel) I'm your Huckleberry"
It is line from Tombstone where Doc is about to take advantage
of a drunk cowboy and in answer to hics challenge, Doc's way
of taking the challenge, he says, "I'm your huckleberry."
Anyway, the call name is Doc. I love the whole thing, Tombstone
being one of my favorite movies.

Sorry I keep coming back to young Frankenstein and his monster. The Doc Fronk - un - STEEN, teaches the monster to do "Putting on the Ritz."
So basically I got nothing... But I share with you my picture, and therefore corrupt your process. Sorry.

You aren't putting his breeder's kennel prefix ahead of it? That's normally what most people do, for respect and to trace lineage. My dog's registered name has nothing to do with his call name. He is registered as Columbia's Crosscheck (the breeder likes hockey and since he was a southern dog coming to a Canadian home he suggested it and I liked it so went with it) but his call name is Jake.

I smell pandora's box opening.....
With respect to all breeders, what you are eluding is normally a contract contingency that is determined by the breeder. If it becomes the seller's choice to name the dog any way they see fit they can name it using whatever they want without any preconceived obligations.
Tracing lineage is an easy thing to do if the dog is registered.
