pheasant hunt doggie cam

Post by diamonddad » Wed Mar 27, 2013 12:05 pm

I strapped a gopro on my dog's back for a recent pheasant hunt before the end of our season.
It's easier to watch by focusing on her collar when she is bounding. The interesting parts are
when she slows to track the scent. Her bird point/retrieve starts 3 minutes into the video.

Enjoy!

That's cool! How did you mount it? It seems pretty stable in relation to the dog.

Would you please post some pictures showing how you mounted the GoPro to your dog?

Thank you.

Great fun!

I did that with my Contour HD cam on my lab a couple years ago. I used a floation vest since its a bit stiff, then made an aluminum plate to mount the camera to. The plate was riveted to the vest using large head pop rivets from the underside. You need to make sure nothing rubs on the dog. With the soft vest and the large heads on the rivets, they suck into the soft padded vest and can't touch/rub on the dog.

That retriever was pro at marking. You see him turn around with the bird in his mouth to mark that shot? Excellent.

Curious how their Universal Video collar would look on a dog on land. There is definitely more rocking while running than swimming.
Would be cool to see on a pointing breed, that might have a smoother gait while running.

Agree that Lab was awesome at marking.

That is great. I kept waiting for the cartoon voice to come on saying: "Which way did he go? Which way did he go?"
