Old Style Meaning! From George Bird Evans and George Ryman Close working Hunting Setter!

Thanks love them! They are not big runners...Males 70lb females 58 or so!! Of course this can range!!

:D I assumed it was the Old Hemlock "noble head", as GBE would say.
Beautiful dogs.
Not sure though that Rymans of old are represented anywhere today.
Maybe....hard to say.
I think you may discover that lighter weights by 10 pounds + are now more wisely considered by thinking breeders of the type.

Enjoy the pup!

I believe it was Chance and Todd will have to look again since these are some of the older dogs! Old Hemlock now they only breed to who they want and have say to who you breed to in their conmtract etc!!! These older dogs were Georges

OK, thanks...just curious.
I believe you would find that GBE was equally concerned with attempting to maintain some measure of control and direction over that which he was building.
Many though, sought to market off the name for some increased filthy lucre.
One will always have that.

Yes he was trying to control!! And people even tol me I cant sell my pups because Old Hemkock Blood!! To me you look to better the breed, Do OFA Thyroid Elbows Hearing which is all past on...I wonder how many people do that on hear?....Maybe hips! I have heard alot of people say I know my line I dont need to have that done! I just dont believe that!! If your going to try and better the breed certain measures should be taken!!

Fingers have a mind of their own sometimes. :)

Control can be a good thing.
Experience with any line of dogs proceeding to a goal is also a fine additive and necessary decision.
Experience seldom comes with only the purchase of any dog.
Folks often want a "name" dog simply to sell pups for more money...imo, a bad single purpose, but it happens.
One has the choice to go elsewhere, as has been mentioned here ad nauseum.

You are correct we both could name BIG Kennels all day! Some people tend to think they are higher class if they have a dog from there etc...

For me when I have a litter which this will be my first in three years, we both know if you take in account all you time etc...You do not make a dollar off your pups....I'm not selling big running setters for trials....Just a good hunting dog that can creep along the grouse and woodcock woods!

Sometimes, it's just about moving the pups from any litter for folks.
Lot of dogs out and about attracting buyers....many need a niche.
Not a fan of creeping along re grouse dogs but...Good Luck, have fun with your pups.

I hunt a couple washed-out of FTing setters for ruffed grouse and more....they do fine and hunt both the birds and the cover.
Can't ask much more than that.

Thanks.....I will we all like what type of breed etc...I also have Llewellins as long as a bird dog is doing what it is suppose to do, I have no problem with any of the breeds! Although I will just enjoy the pups for eight weeks what ever I have they are going to repeat buyers in the past most anyway! So Im happy I know they will have a good home and be happy!
