Jäger
Jäger
Just thought I'd introduce ya'all to Jäger my 8 week old Drahthaar pup!
He's got a ton of point in him that's for sure! Here he is locked up on Penny our JRT.
A little "pulling the leash" through the field training yesterday. He loves it out there in the tall grass. Busts his way right through it.
And we even found a nice little water hole on the far side. Just enough for a couple of paddles.
He took right to it. I usually introduce a pup to water by ME being in it, but he was pretty charged up so it was easy.
I've spent a small fortune on Kong toys, Nylabones, rope toys, rubber balls...
And his favorite is this old vinegar jug!

Good looking pup!
Re: Jäger
Thanks guys!
I'm really enjoying working with a pup again. And, he's learning at a rapid pace.
Dogs are such amazing creatures!
Here are just a few pics from some of our "puppy expeditions"
A little running in the field. We do this every day and he absolutely loves it!
He wasn't real impressed with cows.
Crossing the creek. He was pretty proud of himself so he did it about a dozen times!
And his first "real" swim! He did great!

Re: Jäger
Nice there is a JR to show him the ropes.
Re: Jäger
Thought I'd post a little update...12 weeks old
Jäger is growing by leaps and bounds!
We found a small covey of wild bobwhites nearby, and this is Jäger's first real scent point.
He has yet to pin them down, but he's sure trying! I can't wait until they erupt in his face!
He's really started to like the water and swims on his own now, but he still doesn't like being sprayed by the hose.
That's ok...my last lab was the same way. He was a water natural, but he always gave me this horrible look when I bathed him with the hose.
I even caught him pointing in the water yesterday!
Yesterday, we worked on a dead duck track, and then a little dead search.
He carried "his" duck all the way back to the fence! He even brought it to me after some "energetic" persuasion.
And, thanks to all that have helped with my pigeon questions, we've started working on planted pigeons too, but I just haven't got any pics yet.

Re: Jäger
He looks very bold - and I really like the way his face is marked.
