Bryer went over the rainbow bridge
I had to put the first GSP my wife and I bought together down yesterday. Bryer has been fighting a battle with cancer for the last 4 month and it was getting the best of her. So on Saturday we ended her pain and sent her over the Rainbow bridge to run and hunt another day. Bryer was 14 years old and my three kids were very attached to her since she would spend the nights in my twins bedroom. Noah one of the twins (five years old) cried him self to sleep last night, he want Bryer to come back. That is the hardest thing, watching how hard my kids are dealing with the loss of BRYER.
Thanks
Terry

I've yet to have to go through something like that. I've lost two cats that my family brought home for my birthday when I was in the fifth grade (one was age 8, one age 13), and the only thing I could think about was how I felt that I didn't give them the time and attention they deserved. Of course they deserved 100% of my time and attention for their unconditional love in return. But, even then I know it doesn't quite compare to the loss of a dog. Cats are a lot more independant, so even though an attachment was formed it just wasn't the same as it is now with my dog.
I've talked with my wife a couple times about the day sometime in the future when we'll have to say goodbye to Justus (brought him home a week after our honeymoon) and we both end up tearing up just thinking about it.
It probably doesn't really help in the grand scheme of things, but my heart does go out to you, your wife and your little ones. Only time will heal the wound and subside almost all the pain, but the place in your heart for Bryer will never go away.

Thank you all for your kind words. I had to hold back the tears when I read through them.
Thanks Again
