Experiment/project

Can anyone guess what this will be? More importantly: Will it work?

Here's another part that gets attached to it:

Bingo. I think I'll call it the Bird Bazooka. Or maybe the Chukar Chucker.
Trying to see if I can put together a DIY bird/dummy thrower. It's mostly just stuff I had sitting around, except for some $2 clothesline pulleys and $35 worth of latex tubing. I sacrificed my spare bow trigger for it. If it can throw, I'll hook the trigger release to a solenoid and use the remote electronics from my box launchers.

A bird launcher of some sort, nice idea in that release , could morph to remote control pretty easy.

Yes, Aulrich, it will be converted to remote control pretty easily. I plan to temporarily borrow the solenoid and receiver from one of my Dogtra box launchers. If the mechanical design works as planned, I will buy another solenoid and keep it on this contraption.
I'm thinking it will do a good job of holding a live, clipped-wing bird, for duck-search training. And it should have plenty of power -- there are four surgical tubes, just like on a store-bought thrower, but these are longer.

All the animal rights folks are really going to love it. Now if you can figure a way to get some of them into it, it will be perfect.

Mask: Did I say it would be good for live, clipped-wing birds? If so, what I meant to say is that it will be good for Dokken dummies. Those Dokkens are so realistic, sometimes I get confused! :D

What will you be holding the artificial bird in, I had been thinking of cloning a winger zingner, but this looks like an easier build.

Aulrich: I've got to run, but I'll post a pic later of my half-done dummy holder. It's made of the heavy fabric from a junk lawn chair (the type that folds and slides into a carry bag). I put a grommet in each of the four corners, then attached to the tubing. I need to add an eyebolt in the center, for attaching to the trigger release. I guessed at the size needed for the pouch, so it might need tweaking later.

Glad to hear you're not planning to launch birds out of that contraption. I think it might just remove all their feathers if you did.

It works!
The first two launch attempts went flawlessly. It chucked one of the plastic hex-type bumpers perfectly. I launched into a tree as a precaution (I'm in town), and I'd guess it would have gone 25-30 yards had the tree not stopped it. And there's not a lot of tension on the rubbers, so I'm thinking I could shorten them up and increase the distance, if needed. I wanted to launch a few more, but it got dark out, and plus I didn't really feel like explaining things to anyone who happened by.
Next step is to add the solenoid for remote control.

Seen some lab peeps shooting out duck like that, only the had a big air tank hooked up to it. What ever

Never saw birds using those in real life. Just like I never saw those Sporting Clay Shooting Stations and Platforms while bird hunting

GSP7,
Have you ever seen one of these?

It is not a real dog (the one on the right). But people have been using them for a long time, with success. It's called a training device.
I could give you some more examples.
