Worming pigeons with ivomec

I just built a coop & bought 6 pigeons 4 weeks ago, two pairs have already paired up & laid eggs, one egg hatched yesterday, I have to use a mirror to see that nest & I didn't want to stress the adult bird by running it off the nest, so not sure theres a baby but an empty eggshell was on the floor & yesterday was 18 days since the second egg was laid. So evidently they like their new home. I want to make sure I'm taking care of them properly so I have a nice supply of healthy training birds, I did a search on here looking for info but didn't find what I was looking for, I use Ivomec for my dogs & have read that it can be used for pigeons too, right now, I'm wanting to try to do it without having to catch them, Is there a way I can just put it in their water? I really dont want to take a chance on a bird getting out & flying off till I get some babies & get them homing to my coop so hopefully y'all can help me out with that.

I personally use Quest Gel. (Horse Wormer) Four bumps on the plunger per gallon. It worms them, and is safe to use while they are on chicks. (Supposedly. I haven't personally wormed them while they are feeding, but have heard that it's ok)
Since it's a thicker substance then water, I put the four bumps worth of wormer in a bottle of hot water, shake it so the stuff dissolves and then put it in their water.
Its cheap too. Just make sure the dogs don't get it. It can be toxic to dogs.

I use Wazine, for hogs and poultry. About a cap full in a one gal water fountain. haven't a clue if it works but I've never seen worms in there.

I have one of the plastic one gallon waterers, but with only 6 birds, I can fill it half way & they don't even drink half of that, would I be better off getting a smaller waterer so they drink more of the medicine mix? I know I would be wasting less wormer.

I use about a half CC per gallon. Never had a problem with worms with my pheasants, quail, or pigeons. I worm them about every 3 months.

1/2 cc of which ivomec? The stuff I use for the dogs is not water soluble.

The cattle and swine. You would be surprised how soluble it really is.

So you put a half cc per gallon & they drink what they drink & thats it right? Then do it again in 3 months? Sounds easy enough. And yes, I felt stupid after asking the question about the smaller waterer. LOL. Thanks for the help y'all.

when using Wazine I take water away the afternoon before worming. All the pigeons will flock to the treated water and drink . Common method used by pigeon racers

Brittguy is right, that is something that can be done to get them to drink or put the treated water down after the birds are done loft flying or whatever.

One last question, is it ok to use the Ivomec with them raising baby's? I have two eggs that just hatched but they are in the furthest nest box from the door so I haven't been able to see them but am assuming theres two baby's up there, momma bird won't let me see them yet. I have another pair that just laid their second egg Monday, they are in a nest box I can see real good. I have only had the birds for a couple of months & don't know what they had been given before but they seem very healthy. I don't want to give it to them yet if it might hurt the baby's.
